Great to see that Free Schuylkill River Park is moving ahead with the measurements - I wanted to point out that it's not only important to appreciate how long the trail is, but how the trail connects to other trails....

Did you know?

That, the trail connects to Kelly Drive which is 4 miles long...

Kelly Drive connects to Forbidden Drive, which is 8 miles long...

Kelly Drive also connects to the Manayunk Canal Towpath (wide tire bikes) or the Umbria Street bicycle lanes - both of which take you to-

the Port Royal to Valley Forge (Betzwood) bike trail? That's another 20 miles...

Betzwood includes a connection across the Schuytlkill River over to the main Valley Forge Park..

Betzwood to Lower Perkiomen Park - near the James Audabon park...

From there, you can connect to the Perkiomen Trail - another 20+ mile trail that leads to Green Lane Reservoir...

Which connects to the "Red Trail" (??) along the east side of Green Lane Reservoir.. - a very nice single track mountain bike trail....

That connects (on road) to Palm, Vera Cruz, Emmaus - and into the Lehigh Valley, into Little Lehigh Parkway in Allentown...

Which connects to the MLK bikeway to the Hamilton Street Bridge & Dam...

Which connects to - the Lehigh Canal Towpath, that runs from Allentown, through Bethlehem (the Musikfest Grounds) - then out to Easton...

Where is connects to the Delaware Canal Towpath - about 60+ miles of hiking path (the bike path surface is being repaired after the floods...)

The Delaware Canal connects to the D&R Canal in New Jersey, which connects to the Raritan Canal Towpath heading to NYC...

The Delaware Canal Towpath extends down to Bristol, Bucks County- with on-road routes that head down to Philly...

where the Kensington & Tacony bike trail is being planned ... which will eventually connecdt to the bike lanes on Delaware Avenue...

Giving Philadelphia a very intersting 120 mile bicycle loop...
